SPORTS EVENT

The intention of the Sports Event Sponsorship Program is to facilitate and foster the growth of sporting events in Pasco County while increasing the marketing efforts to enhance visitor travel, hotel stays, retail store traffic, and restaurant business which assist in generating an economic impact for our community. The sporting event should promote Pasco County, Florida's Sports Coast as a tourist destination for visitors. A sport is considered an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.

The Sports Event Sponsorship Program provides funding for the event based on room nights generated within Pasco County hotels at a rate of  $12.00 per room night for up to the amount approved by the Pasco County Tourist Development Council or Pasco County Board of County Commissioners.

If your organization is interested in hosting a sporting event in Pasco County, please call the Destination Management Organization (DMO) to discuss the event in detail prior to beginning the application process. Once you speak to the Sports Development and Tourism Manager or Sports Tourism Coordinator, please fill out the Sports Event Sponsorship Application. Please make sure to keep event projections as accurate as possible, once the application is complete please email the completed application to Consuelo Sanchez, Sports Development and Tourism Manager. All applications must be submitted online using the fillable forms, at least 90 days prior to the event,  Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. The DMO will take a minimum of 30 days to review the application and complete internal processes.

REIMBURSEMENT POLICY & POST EVENT REPORTING:

The reimbursement process will be performance-based: 

1. Each organization will be required to provide a post event report. The report will be due within 45 days of the completion of the event.

2. The sponsorship fee will be awarded based on the actual number of room nights generated within Pasco County hotels for the event at a rate of $12.00 per room night for up to the amount approved by the Tourist Development Council or Board of County Commissioners.

3. In order to confirm the room nights generated within Pasco County hotels, the Event organizer will need to provide hotel pick-up reports from hotels or housing bureaus, room night certification forms, or participant surveys (including a summary reflecting the number of room nights produced in Pasco County)  along with the Post Event Report. It is the event organizer’s responsibility to track room nights from overnight stays at all Pasco County accommodations.
